How Far could he go ?

Ranked 750th last season, young prodigy Jao Fonseca achieved a promising 2024 season to reach 145th in the world.

He's undoubtedly the non-top 100 player who is currently generating the biggest excitement on the tennis planet. Discovered in 2023 when he made his first appearance at the ATP Rio tournament, the 16-year-old Jao Fonseca had already aroused curiosity with his precocity and potential.

A year later in the same venue, Fonseca thrilled the “Quadra Guga Kuerten” crowd, who witnessed the birth of their new Champion.

No longer the timid guest defeated by Alex Molcan, Fonseca became the fierce gladiator, cutting the heads off Arthur Fils and Christian Garin in turn.

An explosive forehand, solid nerves and great interaction with the crowd, Jao Fonseca is already shaping up to be a superstar who will bring the fans to their feet in a 5th Grand Slam set.

Winner of the 2023 junior US Open, the young Brazilian established a firm foothold on the professional circuit in 2024, achieving good results on the challenger circuit and entering the main draw of several ATP tournaments.

Even better, Fonseca lived up to coach Jaime Oncins' expectations by winning two of his three matches during the Davis Cup elimination phase.

In 2025, the young tennis star will have everything to prove in his first full year on the circuit, and will be looking to make his debut in the main draws of Grand Slams.

Although clay seems to be his preferred surface, the Rio native and his aggressive game could well adapt to fast Indoors or grass surfaces.

No doubt about it, Fonseca will be playing the starring roles in 2025.
